Verbs that end in /n/ or /m/ (but not those with
/-am/ theme, which are called VAI2 verbs) show two primary distinctions in the
independent positive: 1. they show coalescence of /wan/ and /wag/ to /oon/ and
/oog/ respectively; 2. They have a link vowel /i/ before suffixes that start
with an /m/. Note that some dialects of Ojibwe have link vowel /o/ instead of
/i/.
Some other nasal-final verbs: maazhingwaam, 'sleep uncomfortably'
(and other verbs of sleeping having final /-ingwaam/; bangishin, 'fall'
(and many other verbs with final /-shin/, 'fall, lie, happen.'
