• The example verb used here is ayaan, 'have IN.' The main distinguishing feature of this class of verbs is that the vti theme sign /-am/ is apparently added to a stem that ends in a vowel of some sort. They otherwise work the same as any /am/-VTI. The only common verbs belonging to this class are ayaan, 'have IN,' and gidaan, 'eat up IN.'
• Note that no marking for plural occurs in the first person plurals, inclusive and exclusive, which both have first person plural suffix /-min/. In all dialects of Ojibwe, this suffix is never followed by a number suffix (e.g., inanimate plural).
• The negative word used with independent order negatives is gaawiin.
